what is your name?
Catherine Elizabeth Crater Kulupka (tmi?) Cathy works too =)

what is your hometown?
Springfield, IL

what is your earliest memory?
When I was 4, I fell (was pushed by a girl with pigtail braids) out of a tree house and was blind for a day. I remember that Mary from Little House on the Prairie learned to read when she was blind; therefore, I wasn't too concerned about it. My mom says it was eerie how calm I was about the whole thing. She thought I was faking at first, but then I stared into the sunset all the way to the hospital. Anyway, eventually the pressure was relieved and I regained my eyesight. There have been no incidents since. I wear glasses and sure there are moments I like to blame on that incident, but nothing medically proven.

what is wrong with kids these days?(get off mah lawn!)
I believe there is a certain level of desensitization that has both positive and negative effects on kids these day (aka: they watch too much damn TV and play too many violent video games).

what is right with kids these days?
Well it is a fact that children are our future and the only thing we can do is educate them and do right by them. The fact is that there are kids that really have it tough these days. As a teacher, I see my share of laziness, I see my share of really hard-working honor students, and I also see my share of students that work hard to stay afloat, but keep getting pulled under. The best thing to do is listen to them, even if you don't understand their jive/lingo.

what one thing/action/person would drive you to run screaming out the door?
INTOLERANCE. I don't tolerate it.

what is the best thing about you AKA why are you so awesome?
I am positively positive 95% of the time. 5% of the time I can get dark. But the other 95% of the time, I choose to see the beauty in everything. I love to live and laugh each day.

do you have a blog or favorite website you'd like to plug?
Your local library, community outreach program, Big Brother Big Sister, do something to get involved with the youth and make a difference. Even if it's one day of one month of one year. It does make a difference.

FYI: Cathy is my sis-in-law and I LOVE her. I wished she lived closer so I could muscle in on her fun times. She IS positive all the time, I think that's one of the many things that makes her a great teacher. Plus she has great taste in music, drinks and books. Thanks for the plug Cathy, I'm a big advocate of supporting your community services. I don't know what I'd do if we didn't have our local library and community center. I have also volunteered for Literacy Volunteers of America. Good times.
