influences

My sister is getting married in about two weeks, so i've got wedding on the brain lately.
I recently asked her to send me some pictures that influenced her style for the wedding and reception.

she's got about 100+ white milk glass vases and bowls and she's going to have the florist do some free form arrangements on the tables. i do like the idea of having a contrasting colored 'napkin' under it since the table will be mostly white. I think it's going to look very nice.

my sister wants to have some 'unique' aspects to her wedding (don't we all) and one of these unique things is going to have a colorful bouquet instead of the traditional white on white look for the bride. I like these flowers, they are very summery and appropriate for a July wedding in wisconsin.

i won't show a picture of her dress because that's not my place to do. Maybe after the wedding i'll post a few. But knowing what her dress looks like i thought it would be neat for her to do a more vintage 20s inspired veil and she told me that she had bought a birdcage veil from a shop in etsy.com

I remember my uniqueness for my own wedding was more along the lines of gothic punk. I wore white fishnets and black knee high doc martens during the reception. My parents still think i'm a nuts :)

what was your favorite wedding detail?

Awesome T, I want to see pix of the fishnets and docs! I wore foam flip flops that were extremely comfy. You were there for mine, but I will share anyway. My theme was harvest of love and in fact many of the little vase flowers were picked on the way to the wedding and I believe you helped with the arrangements (beautifully I must say). It was at the end of September so fall colors-I loved that my bridesmaids dresses were all a different shade of fall...I also went with a multi-colored bouquet arrangement and really dig that aspect. Can't wait to see pix from Michelle's wedding!

Um, let's see - there were a few things:
- I had my 3 parents stand up when the preacher asks who was giving me away, though I walked with my dad
- I had my 3 sisters wear different colors of the same gown
- I, too, used a colorful bouquet - I always thought white on white made it look like the flowers didn't match, but that's just me
- We only did a SMALL amount of "formal" pictures (and even then, using our own camera) - mostly group shots - the rest was from people who brought cameras and shared them with us and disposables we spread around - we have over 400 wonderful memories from that
- We made our own cake - 3 tiers on separate stands that Tom built covered in white satin
- I was THRILLED when the kids did their own thing, rather than horrified - I wanted them to have FUN at my wedding :)
