Brussels Sprouts

Friday, April 15, 2011

I find people fall into one of two categories when it comes to brussels sprouts, they either love them or they don't know they love them yet.

I wish that you could buy a bag of prepared brussels sprouts at the store so I could snack on them all the time without actually having to make them.

When I was younger I had only had them boiled and they were frequently very bitter and gross. Roasted is definitely the preferred way of preparing these tiny cabbages. Then they turn out as delish as they are cute!

It's easy to make yummy sprouts.

Preheat your over to 350 or throw them in with whatever you already have going on.

Cut off their stems and weed out the icky looking ones. Roll them in a little bit of olive oil and sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper. If you're feeling sassy add some garlic. If you're feeling sassy but lazy add some garlic powder.

Throw them in the over until they are brown, about 20-30 minutes. Don't worry if some of the leaves look a little black and crispy. That just makes them crunchy and fantastic!

That is one of my very favorite "side" dishes, though I have just eaten like a pound of them for dinner before. :P
