Emerald Cove

Back in the day I used to love the New Mickey Mouse Club or MMC and would watch it every day I didn't have soccer practice. I had a mad crush on Marc Worden. It's the only time in my life I've ever written fan fiction. One of my friends and I had a super embarrassing notebook that we shared and we'd pass it off to each other between classes. Each MMC show had a bunch of skits, a musical number and some games or interviews but SOMETIMES they had this mini Gossip Girl show in the middle called Emerald Cove. OK less Gossip Girl and more Dawson's Creek meets After School Special.

Since a lot of these kids grew up to be big stars (Justin, Britney, Christina...even Keri was on Felicity) I guess this was a good opportunity for them to hone some acting skills...but some of the acting makes me feel a little less embarrassed about my notebook because uh...we were all young back then I guess.

The episodes are available on YouTube. It looks like they are dubbed from VHS but they are mesmerizing. The HAIR! How did we ever think that these were normal looking, acceptable hair styles.

I just wish I still had a copy of the album the MMC put out. I had it on cassette and I listened to it until it died. I even dug out of a box one trip home from college and then it lived in my car for a while.

SHE'S BLIND?!!!! Ohhh geeeeeze. Dealbreaker.

Although Emerald Cove is amazing I think the pinnacle of epic MMC awesomeness will always be when they did Runaway Train.

And Marc Worden? Well...we were MySpace friends for a while...it was pretty incredible. I wish he had a Twitter. He does a lot of guest appearances and voice work so every once in a while it's a little treat to have him pop up somewhere.
