How to Put VERY Temporary Streaks in Your Hair

Don't ask me why but I've always wanted blue hair. Ideally, I would want to have just the tips be a very bright, torquise blue but when it comes to my hair I have serious commitment problem and I am not terribly experimental.
However, since I'm a natural redhead, their are some people in my life who have threatened me with violence if I ever dyed my hair. I'm content to enjoy the natural shade of my hair (while I can) and I plan to become much more experimental when the gray starts showing up.
I've been looking for a way to add color (ok MORE color) to my hair for parties and concerts and other events that would wash out. I am a teacher so I need to look proffessional during the week and I've always been a bit nervous about the sprays and dyes that promise to be temporary.
SO I was thrilled when I saw the idea on Pintrest to use pastels on your hair with a curling iron. I bought pastels, I tested it and I was dissapointed. I ended up with big, albeit colorful, snarls in my hair and even after the color washed out the texture of the pastel made my hair static-y, clumpy and gross.
I've been reading about the new colored hair powders that you can buy to add to your hair and although I was intrigued I wasn't $25 worth of interested. So I had an idea! Eye shadow! The Internet confirms that this is not a new idea but it was new to me.
I grabbed the cheapest, bluest eye shadow I could find and set about to add some blue streaks. It worked like a dream.
Dirty-ish hair or hair with product works best. I used an old blush brush, loaded it up with eyesahdow and streaked it along my hair wherever I wanted it. Try not to brush it or touch it when you are done. I didn't notice any blue showing up on my clothes or face so it doesn't shake out the way the expensive powdered stuff does.
Red hair is weird because even though it doesn't look dark it is very colorful on it's own so this would definitely be brighter on a blonde and have more contrast on a brunette.
With eyeshadow in a million crazy colors you can go wild for cheap!
The best part? It washed out easy as pie.

Pretty! I want purple streaks (this one exact color of purple that I saw on Pinterest, OF COURSE.)
I could totally try this.
Oh man purple and red would be great! Now I want purple too! You should take pictures!
