Your name
My name is Ann Fuller. Online, I mostly go by davesanngel, which is a nickname that was created by my husband.
Your hometown
I was born & raised just outside of Bargersville, IN. After a brief stint of living in Indianapolis, I couldn't resist the siren song of home and moved back about 3 years ago.
What's the best thing so far about the adoption process?
The best thing - gosh - that's hard. I don't think I can pick just one thing. Some of the best things are: 1. having David by my side - he is an amazing man, a wonderful husband, and he's going to be a truly fantastic dad; 2. all of the support that we are getting from family & friends; 3. buying baby stuff! It's all so cute! Getting to design a room for this new little person is a great adventure in finding the perfect pieces
How do you relax? at night before bed, on a stressful day at work, just because?
Generally, to relax before bed, I chill out on the couch with the laptop while I watch the 11 o-clock news. I generally eat my bedtime snack while I do this also. (I'm a Type 2 Diabetic, and my dietician has me eat a small snack before bed so that my sugars don't bottom out overnight.) After a stressful day at work, I generally pop open a bottle of wine and settle in to watch a couple of cooking shows on Food Network. Now that the weather is improving though, I'll be starting to walk to work, so the walk home is always a good way to unwind. To relax just because, it's all about taking a nap! Gimme a good book to lie down with, and I'll be asleep before I finish a chapter.
soda or pop? why?
Neither. For me they're called "cokes" regardless of what it is. I'll ask if you want a coke, then I'll ask what kind you want. I know, it's a little odd.
I tend to have weird day fantasies involving famous people. ie: i'm going to the bookstore and i meet some famous musician and he/she invites me to a free concert and we become best friends. what mind wanderings do you have?
Here lately, 98% of my wanderings have been about the adoption and daydreaming that we've gotten "the call". Then I wonder about what sort of person our birthmom will be, and what the baby will look like, how my family will react, etc.
What great thing about your childhood would you wish upon kids today, what about your childhood would you NOT wish upon kids today.
I would wish for kids today the ability to be a kid for as long as possible. In my opinion, kids are expected to be mini adults, and it's not fair to them. As far as what I would not wish for kids today from my childhood, honestly - nothing. I had a really great childhood!
Do you have a blog or website you'd like to plug?
Not really! I have a blog on livejournal, but I am not a frequent poster. I guess I figure my life is too boring for most people to be interested!
Anything else you'd like to add?
Just an interesting note for anyone reading this that I haven't met irl, I only have 8 digits on my hands 5 on the right and 3 on the left. No, it doesn't bother me when someone stares. No, it wasn't an accident, I was born missing them, so I have no idea what life with 10 fingers is like. Yes, there are a lot of scars on that hand - 12 surgeries will do that to a person. No, I cannot play piano. Yet. Check back in a few years.
thanks!
Seriously I didn't expect that answer to soda or pop! i guess it's like saying 'kleenex' it's a brand but you know what people are talking about.
I do agree with you that kids aren't allowed to be kids. Everything is so structured, I don't know a single family in my neighborhood that lets their kids dig in the dirt outside. If they are outside so are there parents. I know it isn't as safe to let kids run wild, but i think kids need to get into a little bit of trouble once in a while. trouble meaning, getting their hands dirty or playing keep away with the dog :)
