What would you do? FFF

Imagine this hypothetical situation:

A fairy godmother type appears in front of you during your lunch break. She offers you $1000. You eagerly accept! After all you need a new dishwasher and the kids need to go to summer camp. Your husband's student loans are staring you down or you'd like to start an IRA for your retirement.

"Not so fast!" says the Fairy Godmother, "You have to spend this money on yourself.....for something FUN."

I think a lot of us grown up types are so used to being practical that the idea of spending such a big chunk of change on something selfish and fun never occurs to us. It's much easier to think of ways to spend the money on practical things or on gifts.

So what would you do, Dear Reader(s)? How would you spend $1000?

Take a short vacation with my hubby. Maybe he could take Friday afternoon off and we drive to Columbus or Pittsburgh or Charleston, then we spend a few nights in a decent hotel, eat yummy food, see a movie (or two), just relax and enjoy ourselves for the weekend. Probably buy a few things, if the theatre is in a mall area. Neat idea. :)

New camera. Big shiny new camera. And probably spend the rest on a day at the spa!

I'm going with a vacation on this one. A new lens, while it would make me happy, we find ways to make that happen. Vacations we don't make enough time for... so free money == free trip!

I think you could make a wise investment and do something really fun at the same time! Buy a new bike for someone special! Just choose some random person that you really care a lot about and buy him a brand new cyclocross bike, size 56cm or so. Everybody wins!
