Happy 4th of July

Whatever you're up to this weekend I hope you get to relax, get outside, and celebrate America.

People have a lot of bad things to say about our home. I'm not immune to that line of complaining either when it comes to politics and environmentalism. But come on....let's not blame AMERICA for that. We know who the real culprits are.
But America, the land we love, is beautiful. It is home to a wondrous array of plants and animals, plentiful sources of fresh water to drink and rich soil for growing food. It is because of that bounty of life supporting ecology that we get to enjoy all of the other material pleasures that we have...instead of having to struggle to find food and water. Other nations have this burden and we are lucky to be so free to pursue our own wants and not have to focus so much on our needs.

And I know that pretty much no one has anything good to say about the government these days....but they aren't all bad. I mean, what would your life be like without schools, parks, roads, libraries and the emergency systems? For as much as we complain about traffic, taxes and the educational system can you imagine life without it? We're not perfect here in America. We've always been a bunch of misfits and we're still very young but we've got a good thing going here when you pause to think about it.
