holiday weekends

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

I went for a long bike ride yesterday and the whole way i'd pass by parks and backyard and smell people barbequeing. It was the charcoal grills that did it for me, all i could think about was my parents backyard, camping in wisconsin and oh ya MEAT.

We grilled steaks last night, had the requisite corn on the cob and watched the fireworks from our deck.
If it weren't for the mosquitoes i could've stayed out there all night!

It's currently about 95f degrees out and i haven't stepped outdoors since about 9:30am. I took a 2hour nap and read. My husband had decieded that he wants to bake a cake from scratch. OK I"LL EAT SOME CAKE! but it's sooo hot outside, glad i'm not making it.

I'd say this has been a perfect summer long weekend! Hope you all had a great weekend too!

We actually went canoeing for the first time (together) and really enjoyed ourselves. We had beautiful weather and a good group of friends. On the 4th we watched fireworks downtown and every year I get misty during the National Anthem "bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there" Amazing.

mrs k - glad you had fun this weekend. i've been on quite a few canoe trips in my life but only been in a canoe with pete once and my parents will never forget that we practially drowned ourselves fighting over how to steer. good thing we were only 2 ft of water and about 100ft from where my parents were sitting laughing at us. :/

We had a wonderful long weekend. Did the social grilling thing with family at their river lot, then on the 4th Tom and I ventured out to the city park to eat carnival food and watch fireworks. Really nice time. I love the smell of bbq, too!
